Latterly, metal was rarely used in construction other than as reinforcement. However, it all changed with the development of tubular aluminum and steel, pressed plywood and plastics. Each of these had its day, being used extensively by the artists of their time. However, they were no more than transient, fading into insignificance as wood remained supreme.
Accent chairs come in styles and materials to suit every taste, every room and every wallet. A basic bargain-basement model of a contemporary chair is mass produced from mostly plastic, and will not break the bank. But a custom job, made from exotic wood from the Amazon and a tooled leather seat and back crafted by an internationally acclaimed artist, could set you back quite a few thousand dollars.
